Hot StoneHave you ever picked up a stone smoothed by water and time? I’m sure, without realizing it, you probably chose a stone for the shape and texture, or simple for how it fits into your palm of your hand!

Stones have historically been used as tools and that is no different today.

Verbal and written history confirms that the use of stones and gemstones has been recorded a long time ago as a means of improving the function of internal organs, heating our homes or sacred rituals.

They would not only use their hands for manipulation and healing but also utilize “tools” the earth would provide,   such as herbs, flowers, clay, crystals and stones.

The healers would use rocks from the riverbeds warming them in their traditional ways, heated in hot water or on coals. These traditions included then laying stones in patterns on the body, carrying or wearing stones for health and protection, using stones in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and ceremonials.

StonesLikewise, there are stones and temperature for every body type and condition and along the energy centres of the body it incorporates the healing power of the 5 elements:
fire by re-energizing the stones with heat, literally born of the earth through volcanoes, full of iron-metal which holds the heat, shaped and formed and now heated in water, and wood for grounding and deep relaxation we use sandalwood essential oil in every treatment for the healing process to occur.

It seems to connect the flow of energy and re-balance the physical, emotional mind and spirit.

Hominids applied warm earth, clay and stones in their medicines, these findings date back 250 million years.
Asia confirms over 5000 years ago of the use of heated stones to improve the function of internal organs and instills the bodies’ balance with Yin and Yung.
Verdict / India indicates that stones were heated in warm, aromatic oils in ritual healing ceremony, dating back 7000 years.
Native American from the ancient times has used hot stones as part of a massage treatment in their sweat lodge ceremonies. The natives believe the stones have souls and when using in healing, allow the recipient to remember lost truth.
Russian, Celtic & Nordic used stones as the original radiators by putting warm stones in bed and to help women in labour and menstruation to reduced pain and spasm. Cold stones where used to slow bleedings after labour.
Europe’s original spas were based on healing principles of thermo and hydrotherapy, as an imported balancing tool and so were hot stones to penetrate the heat sensation that is usually missed because of the cold winters.  
Rediscovered in the United States in 1993 / 4   and re-awakened as a style of modern-day Stone Therapy was called “LaStone Therapy.
